{"id":11789,"date":"2010-07-06T06:45:46","date_gmt":"2010-07-06T11:45:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=11789"},"modified":"2010-07-06T06:45:46","modified_gmt":"2010-07-06T11:45:46","slug":"forgone-conclusion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=11789","title":{"rendered":"Forgone Conclusion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After nearly a decade of demanding that the rest of America never ever call them unpatriotic, Gallup and Pew pollsboth show that, in fact, <a href=\"http:\/\/patterico.com\/2010\/07\/05\/gallup-pew-find-greater-patriotism-on-the-right\/\">Democrats <\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/patterico.com\/2010\/07\/05\/gallup-pew-find-greater-patriotism-on-the-right\/\">are<\/a><\/em>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Gallup found 58% of GOPer\u2019s calling themselves \u201cextremely patriotic,\u201d as opposed to only 20% of Democrats so identifying. The numbers were a bit closer in the Pew poll, where 69% of Republicans called themselves \u201cextremely proud\u201d to be an American, and 43% of Democrats answered the same.<\/p>\n<p>On one level, the general results should not be surprising. After all, the Right more likely to view America in terms of preserving the core principles that make it great, while the Left is more likely to be fixated on its foibles and failures (both real and imagined).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It&#8217;s yet another change Obama has brought us:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>But what explains the increase in patriotism on the Right, particularly from 2006 to the present, when Democrats and progressivism has been on the rise?
