{"id":11717,"date":"2010-07-01T07:52:12","date_gmt":"2010-07-01T12:52:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=11717"},"modified":"2011-10-20T10:30:39","modified_gmt":"2011-10-20T15:30:39","slug":"who-do-minnesota-liberal-hate-the-best-of-the-rest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/wp\/?p=11717","title":{"rendered":"Who Do Minnesota Liberal Hate:  The Best Of The Rest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this week, I took a poll &#8211; what Minnesota conservatives do Minnesota liberals hate the most?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I collected responses via the comment section, my facebook page, and email &#8211; and got a pretty fair bunch of responses.\u00a0 There were some surprises and at least a couple of foregone conclusions.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to publish 11-20 over the noon hour today, and 1 through 10 over noon tomorrow.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But first, I&#8217;m going to give some recognitionto that mass of Minnesota conservatives that give Minnesota&#8217;s liberal establishment <em>just a little <\/em>to hate.\u00a0 These are the people and institutions that got one vote each:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The DFL &#8211; One wag apparently believes the left believes Minnesota&#8217;s dominant party is liberalism&#8217;s worst enemy.<\/li>\n<li>The Cans &#8211; No idea.<\/li>\n<li>All Minnesota Conservatives<\/li>\n<li>Mitch Pearlstein &#8211; Longtime head of the Center of the American Experiment<\/li>\n<li>Bill Cooper &#8211; Former MNGOP chair, CEO of TCF Bank, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shotinthedark.info\/archives\/004997.html\">pwner of Nick Coleman<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Cosmo Insolocco &#8211; No idea.<\/li>\n<li>Mary Kiffmeyer &#8211; the former MN Secretary of State was a lightning rod for&#8230;ACORN.<\/li>\n<li>Freedom<\/li>\n<li>Pat Anderson &#8211; The former and future State Auditor<\/li>\n<li>Mac Hammond &#8211; The megaminister from Maple Grove<\/li>\n<li>Brian Sullivan &#8211; Tim Pawlenty&#8217;s convention opponent in 2002, and arguably the person we can thank for the conservatism of Pawlenty&#8217;s administration.<\/li>\n<li>Denny Hecker<\/li>\n<li>Conservative Bloggers &#8211; should be self-explanatory.<\/li>\n<li>Tony Sutton &#8211; The current chair of the Minnesota GOP<\/li>\n<li>Randy Kelly &#8211; Former Saint Paul DFL mayor who doomed his shot at a second term by endorsing George W. Bush in 2004.<\/li>\n<li>Regular Coffee<\/li>\n<li>Alan Quist &#8211; the first hardcore social conservative I can remember in Minnesota politics; endorsed for governor in 1990, he lost to Arne Carlson in the primary.<\/li>\n<li>Learned Foot &#8211; former <em>Kool Aid Report <\/em>blogger.<\/li>\n<li>Marty Seifert &#8211; Tom Emmer&#8217;s convention opponent and, now that he&#8217;s suddenly not running for office, a &#8220;reasonable, common-sense Republican&#8221; to all the DFLers that were calling him an extremist two months ago.<\/li>\n<li>Henry Ford<\/li>\n<li>Tom Pritchard &#8211; longtime chair of the Minnesota Family Council<\/li>\n<li>Kermit &#8211; blogger from <em>Anti-Strib<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Rod Grams &#8211; former one-term Senator<\/li>\n<li>The Suburbs<\/li>\n<li>Captain America<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Congratulations to everyone on the list that&#8217;s, er, human.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the people with more than one vote, with their standings in the final poll:<\/p>\n<p><strong>30.\u00a0 Katie Kieffer<\/strong>: The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.katiekieffer.com\">blogger<\/a>, former college-press gadfly and up-and-coming pundit got two votes, including from one voter who added every conservative woman she could think of; &#8220;that&#8217;s who they <em>really <\/em>hate&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>29. Swiftee<\/strong>:\u00a0 The of Bruce Springsteen of button-pushing,\u00a0the Charlie Parker of chain-yanking, perhaps the most banned person among Twin Cities leftyblogs, the only surprise is that he didn&#8217;t come in in the top twenty.<\/p>\n<p><strong>28. Twila Brase<\/strong>:\u00a0 Tireless healthcare crusader and my neighbor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>27. Entrepreneurs<\/strong>: Except when they can serve as ATMs for social spending, of course.<\/p>\n<p><strong>26. Joe Soucheray<\/strong>: Souch&#8217;s social curmudgeonism is often called &#8220;conservative&#8221;, and it was certainly something Minnesota liberals detested.<\/p>\n<p><strong>25. Tracy Eberly<\/strong>: Three years past the &#8220;Dirt-Worshipping Heathens&#8221; flap, Tracy still gets &#8217;em frothing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>24. The Tea Partier: <\/strong>The &#8220;boogeyman&#8221; of the Minnesota left.<\/p>\n<p><strong>23. Paul Mirengoff<\/strong>: Not a Minnesotan, but when groupblogs got votes, I spread the votes among their contributors, and Powerline got two group votes.\u00a0 Which is also why&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>22.\u00a0 Brian &#8220;Saint Paul&#8221; Ward<\/strong> got on the list as well.\u00a0 My long-time NARN co-host scored two votes as\u00a0 a member of the NARN.<\/p>\n<p><strong>21.\u00a0 Rep.
