The Coast Guard shuts down sixteen oil-vacuum barges<\/a> commissioned by the state of Louisiana…:<\/p>\n

“We are all in this together. The enemy is the oil,” said Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Dan Lauer.<\/p>\n

But the Coast Guard ordered the stoppage because of reasons that Jindal found frustrating. The Coast Guard needed to confirm that there were fire extinguishers and life vests on<\/strong> board<\/strong>, and then it had trouble contacting the people who built the barges<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Er, if the Coast Guard shares the same mission as Louisiana does, why couldn’t they have lent them the damn life jackets?\u00a0 I’m told they own a few.<\/p>\n

Bobby Jindal – who is kicking as much butt as federal regulations will allow him to in this crisis, and who would seem to have redeemed himself from his flop of a speech last year, and I think it’s fair to say will be going back on the short list for GOP Presidential hopefuls shortly here.\u00a0 He’s doing a great job with this catastrophe in a way that his buck-passing predecessor did not with Katrina.\u00a0 Side note:\u00a0 Hearing a man of Indian descent talking in a fluent Louisiana accent is a kick for this language geek.<\/p>\n
