Never Forget

Yesterday was the date of a horrific atrocity.

No, not some people kicking Ilhan Omar off of something. The 21st anniversary of the – words fail – supernaturally brutal murder of Daniel Pearl.

You should read Yid With Lid’s entire piece on the subject, which writ larger is the fiction of the notion that “Antizionism” isn’t in fact antisemitism. Pearl’s murder showed this to anyone who isn’t too blinded by bigotry to see it.

Twenty-one years and one day after Daniel Pearl was brutally murdered, Rep Ilhan Omar (D-MN) was tossed off a committee because of her putrid public Antisemitism and regular use of anti-Jewish canards on Twitter. Omar was tossed because of her hatred of Jews, but many in congress, the media, and their supporters are claiming it’s political.

If you ask people why Daniel Pearl was murdered, they will give several reasons but leave out the Antisemitism part. Because the key lesson was never learned.

May God teach the people in the world to recognize that Antisemitism is real and pervasive.

“Never Forget”, they used to say.

  1. The Irgun were terrorists. Yep.

People who’d been hunted like animals in the forests of Belarus 1-3 years earlier kept their habits going when they – well, the survivors – came to Israel. .

And given the exterminationism of their neighbors, they fit right in. It was pretty much table stakes in that neighborhood.

    #shrug

  2. The idea that the “people” a person belongs to tells you important things about them is held by a large and growing majority.
We think it is joke that adopting marxist principles will mean an end to conflict, but the reverse is to believe that mass human conflict is inevitable, it’s baked into the clay of humanity. It’s one thing, however, to believe that this A human truth and another to believe that it is THE human truth.

  3. “The Irgun were terrorists. Yep.’

And after their terrorist campaign was successful, they were absorbed directly into the military; they’re called the ‘IDF’ today, and the USA has armed them to the teeth. The US balked at handing over nukes though, so our greatest ally tasked a group known as ‘Lakam’ with stealing secrets and materials to build their own…they were quite successful. Oddly enough, with the exception of Jonathon Pollard, the government of the US never complained…wonder why?

BTW, the original leader of the Irgun is a national hero in Israel to this day…can you guess his name?

History is written by the victors, Mitch, and maintaining the narrative created by these particular victors has never been as jealously guarded by anyone.

  4. Trying to find a nation founded upon politeness & respect for human rights. Ain’t found it yet. Not even Canada.
Most nations are founded by obliteration of existing people, by killing them, driving them out, or reducing them to non-entities.
Or, like Canada, you can declare one ethnicity to be a “first people.”
    LOL.

  5. Y’know, I wouldn’t mind the failures of Slow Joe Biden’s presidency so much if it weren’t for the Chinese spy balloons crisscrossing the country at will.

  6. Mitch writes a post and the premise is immediately confirmed by the resident antisemite. It is as if Mitch wrote the post and new EXACTLY what the response would be. Never forget indeed.

  7. So many peoples have come and gone. Hittites, Egyptians, Phoenicians, Babylonians, Greeks and Romans . . . all gone. But the Jews remain.
    That demands respect.

  8. Antisemitism isn’t required to confirm historical facts jpa.

You’re right, UMMP. Their tenacity is impressive.

  9. A fitting end to another embarrassing blunder by Beijing. The obvious lie by Chinese officials about the nature of the balloon was farcical.

US intelligence observed it, collected information as it moved along, then successfully shot it down over territorial water. What would you have liked them to do Woolly?

I can see why they didn’t want to shoot it down over the US. Had it come down on a Walmart it would have been difficult working out what bits that had “Made in China” on them came from the balloon. 😂

Three Chinese spy balloons flew over while Trump was President. How many did he shoot down?

Yes, Chinese Spy Balloons Flew Over The U.S. When President Trump Was In Office Too

  10. Emery is an idiot.
The reason the military advised against shooting the damn thing down over the US isn’t because they thought that some piece of wreckage might land on farmer Jones chicken coop and kill his prize rooster, it was because you don’t know the payload. Might have dangerous radioactive materials, even as a poison pill.
Emery — never in doubt, frequently wrong.

  11. Wrong again:
Three Chinese spy balloons flew over while Trump was President. How many did he shoot down?
Story debunked within, well, the time it took journaists to call Trump national security & ask them if this was true.
Forbes is not a reliable source for news & info. It’s basically a blog/opinion site.
Looks like the “go to” website for Emery, tho.

  12. Dates, places, . . . name of the “Defense official’?
Frequently wrong, never in doubt Emery will literally believe anything.

  13. A story with actual named sources:
AP stealth edits its Chinese spy balloon report
    https://thespectator.com/topic/associated-press-chinese-spy-balloon-stealth-edit/

“There were no editor’s notes or other indications for readers that the article had been changed in such a key way.

Multiple senior Trump intelligence officials have said they had not been briefed on any such incidents and suspected they never occurred.

John Bolton, who served as national security adviser to President Donald Trump, told Fox News, “I don’t know of any balloon flights by any power over the United States during my tenure, and I’d never heard of any of that occurring before I joined in 2018.”

Former secretary of defense Mark Esper similarly told CNN, “I don’t ever recall somebody coming into my office or reading anything that the Chinese had a surveillance balloon above the United States.”

“I would remember that for sure,” he added.

Former secretary of state Mike Pompeo, former directors of intelligence John Ratcliffe and Ric Grenell, and former national security adviser Robert O’Brien all offered similar on-the-record denials of knowledge of any such incidents.”

  14. rAT Emery is an aggregator for every nitwit leftist bullshit story circulating Twitter at any given time.

Former Director of National Intelligence, John Ratcliffe:” There were no Chinese spy balloon incursions under President Trump’s watch.

Where are the videos? Where are the pictures? Where are pilot reports? They have no evidence because it never happened.”

TDS sufferer John Bolton, said: “Joe Biden and the Department of Defense need to provide evidence of Chinese Spy Balloons flying over U.S. during Trump Admin.

He said, emphatically “not during my tenure”.

So who are you gonna believe, the crew that is fueling a mob turf war in Ukraine, or the guy who stood down Norko, Iran and China?

This comes from the same bag of brainless Muppets who *still* believe Trump suggested injecting bleach, MTG expressed concern about Jewish space lasers, and that Hunter’s laptop is Russkie propaganda. They’re idiots QED

  15. China sent balloons over the US before when Trump was president. You didn’t know that. Do you know why that was never publicized? No you don’t.

China remains absolutely terrible at international politics. Adopting the Russian approach of extravagantly lying about everything all the time will achieve precisely zero. Although there’s 1.4 billion people now who don’t know what the weather in Montana is. One can understand Xi’s outrage.

  16. Instead of actually backing up what he has claimed, Emery is engaging in what bullshitters call “backing and filling.”

  17. It’s kind of the ultimate bad retconning to assert that these so-called balloon crossing weren’t discovered until after Trump left office.
Maybe next some Biden spokesdrone will claim that Trump secretly met with Xi and sold him nuclear secrets for $50. No details because it compromise security methods and sources don’t you know.

  18. Lol, half the stories about this say the source is an unnanamed senior defense official, other reports say the source is unnamed Biden admin people.

  19. This is a somewhat on topic comment on just how horrible our media is.
See, the leaker of the story about Chinese spy balloons crossing the US during the Trump admin gave very few details. Nothing that could be easily checked, it’s basically just an assertion. Massive red flags for any self-respecting journalist. What a journalist should do is zero in on the details of the story that their source doesn’t want to discuss. The source is spinning a narrative for you, and no detail that might conflict with the narrative will be given. Another example: the Biden classified document scandal. No one wants to talk about how the documents came to light. Are we supposed to believe that Biden’s lawyer just happened to be rooting around in his garage & ran across classified docs? No one seems to want to ask this extremely basic question.
Now, I have heard speculation that Biden was anticipating the GOP gaining control of congress, so he was having his lawyers to inventory his papers so he would be better able to respond to congressional subpoenas. It was a dirt hunt.
And since the MSM refuses to do their f’n job, I am free to believe what I want to believe.

  20. Emery, an unnamed source said so, yes. Nobody in the Trump administration remembers such a thing, apparently, and that means one of these things, most likely to least likely.

    1. The unnamed source is lying out his a**, and should lose his job.
    2. It did happen, but the CIA and DOD didn’t put it in daily briefings, and leaders there need to lose their jobs.
    3. Remotely possible: it happened, people were told, and Trump did nothing.

Put gently, Emery, the rate at which unnamed sources tell the truth should prevent us from trusting them, ever. Which is a shame, because sometimes there are real needs for anonymous sources, as in cases where people would be killed if the source were known. But journalists today evidently don’t think like that anymore.

  21. I kind of wish the US would send an actual civilian weather balloon over China, just to troll them.

  22. Civilian weather balloons don’t cross continents, because weather authorities are cash strapped and thus don’t use the kind of technology used here. They rather have a little styrofoam box and are lifted by a 8′ diameter latex balloon. I’ve helped a friend launch them with a tool called the “Dobson”. UMMP, were you at all involved with that in your career in the Big Island?

  23. Some colleagues at the NOAA facility on Mauna Loa, perhaps. That’s where they keep the instrument that measures the atmospheric CO2 fiducial. Always wanted to drive up there & breathe on it.
Normally weather balloons go straight up and do a profile, they don’t drift for thousands of miles.
    https://gml.noaa.gov/ozwv/wvap/hilo.html

  24. Emery’s link, https://thehill.com/policy/defense/3844511-chinese-balloons-flew-over-us-three-times-during-trump-administration-officials/,
Refers to administration reports that Chinese spy balloons had “transited” the country x3 during the Trump administration. Transit means “go across,” BTW.
Then, after pushback from Trump national security people saying that whoever made this claim was out of their mind, came word that these devious Chinese satellite’s US crossing had only been discovered after Trump was out of office.
You can almost see the anonymous source squirming.
Then the story changed to some unknown number of Chinese spy balloons, not transiting the US during Trump’s time in office, but passing over parts of Texas and Florida. Hmm. That’s pretty far south, nothing like the Biden Chinese spy balloon that crossed the US from Montana to South Carolina, passing over multiple cities and military installations.
Now the latest — and remember, this is all anonymous sourcing — says that the infamous passage of Chinese spy balloons (or balloon) passed “near” Texas and Florida.
    How near? Brazil?
Laughing my ass off at these clowns.
We may have reached peak Biden.

  25. Now the latest from the Oubliette of Misery that is Biden’s press office claims that the Chinese Spy Balloon, discovered by someone taking a frikkin picture of it & sending it to their local newspaper, was only detected because of programs put in place by Dear Leader Biden.
Peak Biden is a new low for America. No one even jokes anymore about Slow Joe being worse than Carter.
And the congressional investigations are just beginning.
Hey! Here’s an idea! Allow only anti-Biden Democrats to be on the committees. The precedent has been set.

  26. “Allow only anti-Biden Democrats to be on the committees.”

They’re gonna have enough trouble finding enough anti-Biden Republicans.

  27. Marjorie Taylor Greene, blessed with new found respect by unstable SITD commenter Emery, says this about her call to investigate why Trump was unaware of Chinese Spy Balloons on his watch:
If it’s true the Pentagon purposely did NOT tell President Trump of Chinese Spy Balloons during his administration then we had a serious breach in command during the Trump admin.
The POTUS is the Commander in Chief.
We must investigate and hold accountable those who broke rank.

  28. How do you know that I have a BS Space Studies?
Because I know that meteorologists initially found pictures of the Earth taken by rockets and satellites to be useless. They had begun studying data from one dimensional soundings of the atmosphere by weather balloons during WWI. They knew, for example, what an occluding front looked like from sounding data, but had no idea what an occluding front looked like from an image taken sixty miles up.

  29. Now the story is that the Trump era Chinese Spy Balloons did not transit the US, but instead “transited US air space.” No idea what that means.
Anyways, here is the latest about the Trump “Chinese spy balloons.” This one actually has a name attached to it, a guy named Glen VanHerck, who is, apparently, the commander of something called USNORTHCOMM. He mostly talks in military gibberish.
    https://breakingdefense.com/2023/02/other-chinese-balloons-slipped-through-domain-awareness-gap-in-us-defenses-general/

  30. The US is well aware of the balloon and other spy incursions. This time they made it public to shame China and then shoot down the balloon. Looking back these spy balloons have happened many times including during Trump’s tenure. This is simply the first time it was made public.

  31. 👆🏼Once fed a satisfying bit of twaddle, your average nitwit will spread it far and wide, until it has been proven false, and repeating it subjects him to mockery.

Lacking the even the intelligence to feel embarrassment, a world class nitwit will hold to it with the tenacity of a pitbull.

  32. ⬆️. Epoch Times 😂😂😂😂😂

The Epoch Times’ efforts seem remarkably similar to the propaganda efforts of the Russian government. Easy to see why Comrade Swift easily sucked into its orbit.

  33. Frequently wrong, never in doubt Emery is retconning (again) today.
Emery sez: “This time they made it public to shame China and then shoot down the balloon. ”

Reality sez: “HELENA, Mont. — Larry Mayer, a newspaper photographer, pointed his camera to the sky on Wednesday and began snapping pictures of what appeared to be a mysterious white orb hanging in the sky over Billings, Mont.
He didn’t know what he was looking at, but he knew something was up — way up, like 60,000 feet up.
“They shut down the airport and wouldn’t let anyone land or take off, but wouldn’t say why,” said Mr. Mayer, who works for The Billings Gazette and is also a pilot.”

    https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/03/us/montana-china-spy-balloon.html

Publicity about the Chinese spy balloon, spread by the Billings Gazette & other outlets, led to the cancellation of a Biden admin diplomatic trip to China this week.
Biden, caught off foot by reality again.
What more can you expect from the guy who insisted that there would be no “Saigon moment” of people being airlifted from our embassy roof in Kabul less than 48 hours before we did indeed witness the Saigon moment of Americans & dependents being airlifted from our embassy roof in Kabul.

  34. Off his meds Emery wrote: “The US is well aware of the balloon and other spy incursions. This time they made it public to shame China and then shoot down the balloon. Looking back these spy balloons have happened many times including during Trump’s tenure.”

Reality, in the form a press conference by General Glen Vanherck:
“Q: Thank you. And on the prior balloons, was NORTHCOM involved in tracking the balloon that was at the early stage of the Biden Administration and also the three that transited during the Trump Administration, and what can you tell us about those that were different?
    Thank you.

GEN. VANHERCK: So those balloons, so every day as a NORAD commander it’s my responsible to — responsibility to detect threats to North America. I will tell you that we did not detect those threats. And that’s a domain awareness gap that we have to figure out. But I don’t want to go in further detail.
The intel community, after the fact, I believe has been briefed already, assess those threats to additional means of collection from additional means and made us aware of those balloons that were previously approaching North America or transited North America. I hope that answers your question.”
    https://www.defense.gov/News/Transcripts/Transcript/Article/3289888/gen-glen-vanherck-commander-north-american-aerospace-defense-command-and-united/

  35. Wind Woolly up and watch him spin — still sticking with no Chinese spy balloons on Trump’s watch?

  36. Now that the troll’s hallucinatory ramblings have been dismissed, let’s talk about the damage Biden has inflicted on US security by his all-thumbs mishandling of this incident.
You cannot overstate how muddled the government’s messaging has been about the Chinese Spy Balloon. For example, in his presser, Gen. Vanherck was asked “what sort of protective measures did you take to make sure that it did not collect any U.S. intelligence such as — were you able to block the balloon from transmitting anything?” and he responded “Yes, so I’m not going to talk about any ongoing operations that occurred, such as attempts to use non-kinetic effects. Those are things that I need to go to Congress to talk about, I need to talk about with the department before we move forward.”
But a “senior administration official” leaked that the way that they prevented the Chinese Spy Balloon from gathering intelligence was “straightforward because we could track the exact path of the balloon and ensure no activities or sensitive unencrypted comms would be conducted in its vicinity.”

On Wednesday, Feb 1, the military shutdown flights out of the Billings airport, scrambled F22’s, and after an hour, stood down the F22’s and reopened the airport. All of this was reported in the news, the confusion and delay caused by their single balloon flight was clearly communicated to the Chinese by the American media.
Meanwhile it took another day for the government to acknowledge what everyone in the world already knew, that a Chinese spy balloon had entered US air space.
Leaks from the administration indicate a second Chinese Spy Balloon has also been found, this time over South America.
Later that day Antony Blinken canceled his long-planned trip to China.
Reacting (what else) to claims that his administration is unserious about US security, someone in the administration leaks that there were similar intrusions made during the Trump administration. This comes as a surprise to former Trump national security people, with one voice they say that they have no recollection of these supposed violations of US air space. After some hours, there are further leaks from the Biden Clown shop that, well, these supposed incursions had only been discovered retrospectively since the discovery of the current Chinese Spy Balloon.
So, for a purely political reason (to try and spread some Biden’s spy balloon shade onto the hated Trump) the administration helpfully informed the Chinese that their earlier flights (if they happened) were undetected.
This is possibly the worst PR performance by a presidential administration since, well, since July of 2021 when the administration foul up in Afghanistan resulted in images of Americans being helicoptered off the roof of our Kabul embassy, images of desperate Afghans falling to their deaths as clung to American airplanes in an attempt to escape Afghanistan, and of course who can forget the eleven dead soldiers & dozens of Afghans killed by a suicide bomber at the Kabul airport?

  37. The gin makes it child’s play to live in an alternate reality, which is exactly rAT Emery’s level of expertise.

How many 🍸you had this morning, 🐀❓
