  1. Kind of reminds me of the old days, when something like a third of polled Republicans said that they believed that Obama was born in Kenya.
Unmentioned was that about 20% of Dems also believed that Obama was born in Kenya. Which was even worse, in a way, because if they Obama was born in Kenya then Obama was not legally qualified to be president.

  2. With the latest decisions by the Supreme Court against Democrats, nothing is out range.

  3. Mitch Berg: “13 is actually very similar to 29.  Just as 1/8 is very similar to 1/3”

Mitch, what prevented you from linking to the Doar Tweet you are reacting to?  He linked to the survey didn’t he?

Anyway, who would that be here.  Probably Doakes, Kinlaw, and AllenS, amirite.

  4. Krapinthepants, shit this —

Mitch Berg: “13 is actually very similar to 29. Just as 1/8 is very similar to 1/3”

Where did that Mitch Berg quote come from?

  5. _The Hill_ article on the poll is here: https://thehill.com/homenews/news/557486-one-third-of-republicans-believe-trump-will-be-reinstated-as-president-poll

The actual poll data is here: https://www.politico.com/f/?id=00000179-ee6b-d193-a1f9-effb68130000&nname=playbook&nid=0000014f-1646-d88f-a1cf-5f46b7bd0000&nrid=0000014e-f115-dd93-ad7f-f91513e50001&nlid=630318

The article, written by Dominick Mastrangelo, is a confused mess. The original poll data does not break down how people responded by party ID. At one point Mastrangelo says “. . . 70 percent of independents also dismiss the notion that Trump will be made president after it is proven President Biden cheated in the election.”

The poll itself is silly. It seems like a long list of poorly worded questions. It also does not say how respondents were selected.

  6. It’s an ironic construction, AllenS.  Bone up on your reading and writing skills by a few grade levels and maybe we can talk.

  7. Congress certified the election. Biden is president. Is there any constitutional remedy other than impeachment. Tossing out Biden & Kamala leaves Nancy as president. That would end well.

  8. Jay, I wonder if Nazi Pelosi worked behind the scenes to make sure it was Kamel toe, knowing that Joe probably won’t finish his term, and it would be possible to remove her from office.

Yeah, that would not end well.

  9. As to the poll, I smell push poll. I would bet the pollsters used the word “reinstated” in their questions.

  10. More generally, if you are trying to guess which political party is better, is it wise to compare the least informed people of one party to the best informed of the other?
Whenever I read about a poll that paints conservatives as idiots, I remind myself that the Democrats are proud to count as members of their coalition the least well educated people in this republic: blacks and immigrants.

Sez the guy who still believes Trump colluded with the Russians to steal the 2016 election.

I think Kraephammer is a Strunk sock puppet.

  13. To learn how reinstatement works, send your contribution to Donald Trump 2024. Your money will be reinstated into his bank account.

  14. It’s weird that the only people I hear talking about Trump “reinstatement” are liberals and #nevertrumpers, who assure us it is a big topic amongst conservtives.
Trump hasn’t said anything about it, nor have his lawyers. Just liberals and #nevertrumpers.
Someone is being gaslighted, and it ain’t me.

  15. . . . amazing fluidity of reality . . .

That’s because reality is not objectively determined, it is a social construct the same as gender and race, and therefore I can change it anytime I want to, to be whatever I want it to be.

You have no right to dictate my gender, or my race, or my reality. That’s oppression.

    Hater.

Well, I try to please, so I’ll try to rephrase my 10:26 in simpler terms . . .
Well, that’s about as simple as it can be, so I’ll just quote myself.
It’s weird that the only people I hear talking about Trump “reinstatement” are liberals and #nevertrumpers, who assure us it is a big topic amongst conservtives.

Just for the heck of it, I googled the phrase “Trump reinstatement” and all I got was about a hundred links to liberals saying that Trump supporters believe Trump will be reinstated in August. No actual link to Trump supporter saying this.
Weird, isn’t it? The gaslighting of the liberals by liberals continues.

  17. Emery,

    What MO said.

It might help if you can come up with a link to a significant Republican – not some MAGA chatroom or Reddit board, mind you, someone any reasonable follower of politics might have heard of – who says any such thing.

  18. I found one! Maybe? Sidney Powell, who no longer works for Trump, said back in May that if enough states retract their votes somehow, Trump could be reinstated. Not sure of her legal theory on this, and I’m pretty sure she is a grifter. These days she gives speeches to QAnon fans for money. I think.
Haven’t they found that QAnon guy yet?
    https://www.newsweek.com/sidney-powell-claims-trump-can-simply-reinstated-biden-told-leave-white-house-1596207

  19. Apparently the shit started with Trump hater Maggie Haberman: “Mr. Trump, who White House officials said watched with pleasure as his supporters stormed the Capitol and disrupted the Jan. 6 certification of the Electoral College vote, has told several people he believes he could be “reinstated” to the White House this August, according to three people familiar with his remarks.”
    https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/05/us/politics/donald-trump-republican-convention-speech.html

Notice the poor sourcing. All anonymous, like the many, many false quotes attributed to Trump in the past. “Has told several people he could be reinstated to the White House according to three people familiar with his remarks”?
This is about as good a joke as the White Supremacist Umbrella Man conspiracy theory, still held by by some people in LE.
Carry on, liberals! I salute you! Do not, repeat, do not deviate from reporting the Haberman conspiracy theory!

  20. MBeg: I’m fairly certain it’s not Democrats attending the Mike Flynn/Sidney Powell road shows. Just saying…

  21. By the way, which of you commenters is going to the MAGA Frank rally tomorrow in Somerset. AllenS? Joe? Are you going to do the show on location there Mitch?

  22. Still haven’t come up with the name of anyone who can actually say that Trump believes he will be reinstated as prez in August other than a few hundred anti-Trump journalists. Even Jim Hoft hasn’t said so, meaning your average lib journo hasn’t got the sense of Gateway Pundit.

  23. Are you going to do the show on location there Mitch?

    Well?

    Am I?

I mean, it’s not a “question” where my answer means anything, is it?

    You tell me.

  24. By the way, which of you commenters is going to the MAGA Frank rally tomorrow in Somerset

    Speaking of dog whistles.

  25. One of the way the liberal commenters here delude themselves is to paint Trump as some kind of oddball, fringe politician.
See the “Trump is so NOT a player he had to shutter his blog!!” meme, for example.
So, although you won’t hear it mentioned pretty anywhere outside Team Trump (of which I am not a member), Trump got more votes in 2020 than any GOP candidate in American history. More than moderates Romney, McCain, and either Bush.
Remember, liberals, I am not defending Trump. I am attacking you and your unhinged hatred of Trump.

  26. Lol, the trolls being clever again, saying really stupid things, and absolutely devoid of any meaningful name of a Trump supporter talking about this. Ever.

    Retards.

Just like q, proud boys, boogie whatever. No conservative I have ever read has ever mentioned any of them, until the left and the mediots (birm) started talking about them.

Ooh, he dropped the “Maga” word. So brutal!

  27. Hey, Kinlaw, I’ve been trying to figure out how the coup that nearly destroyed our sacred democracy on January 6 was supposed to work. Was Cowman supposed to “blend in” to one of the paintings of the Western frontier in the capitol, or was he supposed to head butt the guards with his horns? Both, Maybe?
We really dodged a bullet there.

  28. I live pretty close to Somerset and this is the first I’ve heard of any maga rally there. I guess JK is more into the Trump thing than I am. Seriously, JK, are you on some kind of “here is how much you should hate your fellow Americans” email list?

  29. Speaking of isurrekhun™:

…thousands of hours of real-time footage is in the hands of the Capitol Police—and that agency, along with government lawyers and federal judges, is using every legal trick possible to keep the trove hidden from the public even as clips are presented in court as evidence against hundreds of January 6 defendants…

…There’s only one reason why the Justice Department wants to keep the footage under seal: it contradicts most if not all of the claims advanced by Democrats and the media over the past four months.

  30. Happy MAGA Frank Day in Summerset Wisconsin!!

Trump has his A-Team representing him on the MAGA Road Show

  31. “Our President wants us here” seemed to have been the excuse for many of these Trump supporters.

I yet have to understand what the objective of Trump’s supporters storming the Capitol was supposed to be. Stopping the electoral vote count? For how long? Rounding up all the members of Congress? And then do what? Sit tight and wait for Trump to come out of the White House and thank them? And then what? Was the idea that the whole country was going to fall in line, agree to cancel the election, and have another one?

Remember how Clinton got raked over the coals for calling some Trump supporters “deplorable”? I sure do.

  32. The poll data shows that overall 19% of Americans think that it is at least somewhat likely that Trump will be reinstated sometime this year.
This is a garbage result. A pollster with integrity would throw out the results and try to figure out what they did wrong.

  33. There is a fundamental problem with polling today — the unwillingness of polling businesses to canvas a really meaningful selection of people as opposed to relying on small samples reached by phone/on-line processes modified by questionable algorithms intended to make the data “representative”. Little is said about the problem of finding a representative range of people willing to take a poll.

Worse are the “polls of polls” that aggregate these dubious polls on the premise that such aggregation improves reliability. (Anyone remember the rather similar pooling of junk financial products to improve their rating that took place ahead of the 2007/8 financial crisis??!!)

Many of the same issues bedevil the plethora of “research” projects that mash together various data sets to produce headline grabbing “conclusions” on the health implications of such things like drinking more than 2 cups of coffee a day and more worryingly the performance of vaccines and other long term treatments.

There is no real substitute for collecting the right amount of clean data to arrive at reliable conclusions — too much of modern analysis glosses over the uncertainty/risks inherent to methods used not least because many proponents do not fully understand them.

  34. Happy MAGA Frank Day in Summerset Wisconsin!!

Appreciate you keeping us apprised on these events. I read a fairly wide range of sources and I hadn’t heard a thing about this event until you brought it to the attention of this readership. I have never heard of “Summerset” either, but I’m sure it’s a straight-up Brigadoon.

  35. Obsession is but one of the debilitating symptoms of the TDS and liberalism/progressivism mental disorder.

  36. JK,

Mitch, what prevented you from linking to the Doar Tweet you are reacting to? He linked to the survey didn’t he?

    What “prevented me?”

Nothing. The (for purposes of argument) “survey” was of interest, not the way it got to me.

    Who cares?

Anyway, who would that be here. Probably Doakes, Kinlaw, and AllenS, amirite.

Probably not, but then that’s not the point, is it?

  37. @ D

On a beautiful Saturday in June in Western Wisconsin?

Go to the lake? Farmer’s market? Baseball game?

    Or to Mike Lindell’s Pillowfest?
