Count Down ‘Til The Moving Goalposts

Remember when the Wisconsin Supreme Court struck down Governor “Nanny” Evers’ lockdown?

And cheeseheads swarmed into bars, sans masks and social distancing, et avec about two months worth of socializing to catch up on?

Remember the carnage the Twin Cities’ media and Karen class predicted?

EIther will they, if they have anything to say about it:

There were 203 positives out of the total 7,589 test results, or 2.67%. That’s the fourth day in a row the rate was below 3%.

Testing had been above 10,000 daily since last Tuesday.

The state’s death toll is now 646. That’s down from Sunday’s report of 647; the state Department of Health Services (DHS) says a patient in Milwaukee County was counted twice.

The last time the state had no COVID-19 death reports was May 17.

I’ll bet a shiny new quarter that locked down (except for protesters) Minnesota gets and stays sicker than Wisconsin.

And Iowa.

And the Dakotas.  Both of ’em.

And Florida.

Any action on that bet, Progs?

  1. I am still waiting for a comment from Emery that is not driven by emotion and hatred of the Orange One.
Adults try to solve problems. Children like to whine about problems.

Dr Fauci is the voice of reason. He is the only trustworthy spokesperson in this administration.
    . . .

Would that be the same Fauci who managed to agree and disagree with WHO about asymptomatic carriers of covid-19?
The same Fauci who said both don’t bother with masks and you must wear a mask?
You cannot tell shit from shinola, my friend.

  3. None. But it is on the extreme lower end predicted by the model makers you so admire. I imagine that they are weeping in gratitude that it was not worse.

  4. Mamm, yuo should know that in libturd circles of hell, even one life saved is worth being subservient to the elites, Unless it is of course life of an unborn, life of a policeman, life of a conservative, life of any non-black, life of any black who dies in Chicago, life of any black who decided to escape from the plantation, well… you know. So when you have 113,000 deaths as reported by whom exactly? and based on what metrics? that’s 113,000 too many!

  5. This is what insanity looks like:
Pian returned to Honolulu from San Diego on May 31 and was reported by a witness who allegedly saw Pian swimming in the ocean a few hours after her return, the Joint Information Center said.
Pian was also allegedly seen sunbathing with her husband and walking their dog.
Agents arrested Pian in the hallway of her condominium today.

Pian does not have covid-19. She is perfectly healthy.

  6. ^^ In what circle of hell is 113,000 dead from Covid-19 a success?

How many of those deaths were the result of the Trump administration’s actions, and how many shall we credit to Gov. Andrew “Put the Sick COVID-19 Patients Back In Their Nursing Homes” Cuomo, Mayor Bill “Don’t Bother With Cleaning the Subway Nightly” DeBlasio, and the governors and mayors across the country that also made nonsensical decisions that cost lives?

  7. All part of the bogus numbers to beat sTrumpet over the head with, Ian and keep you perpetually locked up for no reason whatsoever. I see you noticed how libturds never question the accuracy of the numbers nor the breakdown. But decry every digit and uncritically blame it all on sTrumpet.

  8. @ Ian:
November 2019, U.S. intelligence officials warned a contagion was sweeping through China’s Wuhan region, changing the patterns of life and business and posing a threat to the population, according to four sources briefed on the secret reporting.

Novel coronavirus pandemic detailed in a November intelligence report by the military’s National Center for Medical Intelligence (NCMI), according to two officials familiar with the document’s contents. It raised alarms because an out-of-control disease would pose a serious threat to U.S. forces in Asia — forces that depend on the NCMI’s work. And it paints a picture of an American government that could have ramped up mitigation and containment efforts far earlier to prepare for a crisis poised to come home. “Analysts concluded it could be a cataclysmic event,” one of the sources said of the NCMI’s report. “It was then briefed multiple times to” the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Pentagon’s Joint Staff and the White House. https://time.com/5799765/intelligence-report-pandemic-dangers/

2018 Trump administration cut 80% of CDC’s program that worked in China, Pakistan, Haiti, Rwanda and Congo to fight epidemics, some of the world’s hot spots for emerging infectious disease.

2019 Worldwide Threat Assessment report, page 29: “The US will remain vulnerable to the next flu pandemic or large-scale outbreak of a contagious disease that could lead to massive rates of death and disability, severely affect the world economy, strain international resources, and increase calls on the United States for support. Risks listed on page 29 of the 2019 intelligence report have since risen more than tenfold.”

Jan 5th- “We alerted the world a pneumonia of unknown cause in Wuhan, China” ~ WHO

Jan 6th – Systems around the world, including the U.S., began to activate their incident management systems per our input and through the next number of weeks, we’ve produced multiple updates to countries, including briefing multiple governments, multiple scientists around the world, on the developing situation — and that is what it was, a developing situation.”~ WHO

Jan 7th — The WHO identifies the virus. The disease was known only through a cluster of atypical pneumonia cases — pneumonia with an unknown origin.

Jan 8th – First US CDC warning (note the CDC operates around the world, many countries look to it for leadership, It is not just a US centric agency)

Jan 9th – WHO identifies source of novel coronavirus to Wuhan, China to a person hospitalized with pneumonia.

Jan 12th – WHO shares the genetic sequence with the world

Jan 20th — first case of identified corona virus in the US, Washington State. Unbeknownst were that the majority of cases were coming in from Europe not China.

Jan 22nd — “We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China. It’s going to be just fine.”~ Donald Trump

Jan 24th- “China has been working very hard to contain the Coronavirus. The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency. It will all work out well. In particular, on behalf of the American People, I want to thank President Xi!”. ~ Donald Trump

Jan. 29 “the coronavirus crisis could cost the United States trillions of dollars and put millions of Americans at risk of illness or death. The lack of immune protection or an existing cure or vaccine would leave Americans defenseless in the case of a full-blown coronavirus outbreak on U.S. soil. This lack of protection elevates the risk of the coronavirus evolving into a full-blown pandemic, imperiling the lives of millions of Americans.” ~ memo(s) from Trump’s WH adviser Dr. Navarro to Trump. Trump reports he never saw them or (oddly he volunteered) looked for them.

Jan. 29 — “The whole world needs to be on alert now. The whole world needs to take action and be ready for any cases that come from the epicenter or other epicenter that becomes established.” ~ WHO

Jan. 30: “We think we have it very well under control”. ~ Donald w

Feb 2nd — “We pretty much shut it down coming in from China.” Trump’s executive order banning anyone who has been in China in the previous 14 days — with exceptions, including for U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents and their close family members — went into effect (China travel ban claim is inaccurate).

Feb 11th — “To be honest, a virus is more powerful in creating political, economic and social upheaval than any terrorist attack. A virus can have more powerful consequences than any terrorist action, and that’s true. If the world doesn’t want to wake up and consider this enemy virus as Public Enemy Number 1, I don’t think we will learn our lessons.” — WHO

Trump golfing: Jan 18, 19, 29 including Mar-a-Lago partying with Brazilian delegation at dinner party, conga-line dancing, several whom were infected at taxpayers expense.

    Trump campaign rally’s: Jan. 9, 14, 28,30. Feb 10,19,20,21, 28

  9. @Emery: Thank you for the link. Original question stands. How much of the current situation is owed to governors’ and mayors’ actions?

I do not absolve Trump of actions taken in the early days of the epidemic which, thanks to China and the WHO, may have started earlier than reported. <a href="https://www.thenewamerican.com/world-news/item/35431-taiwan-releases-email-showing-who-ignored-key-covid-19-warning"Taiwan tried to tell the WHO in December of seven cases of a new type of pneumonia that was spread human-to-human, but the warning wasn't heeded.
