Siege

For those who might be curious, I’m safe.

The neighborhood that has been my home for most of the last 33 years? Not so much. More on that later.

The cities that have been my home, and the place that I raised my family, for the last 35 years?

Lloyds Pharmacy, at Snelling in Minnehaha. My pharmacy for most of the last 30 years. Or what’s left of it, anyway.

We are in the worst possible hands.

Yesterday afternoon, I almost wrote that Mayor Frey’s press conference was the worst train wreck I have ever seen in public.

I would’ve spoken too soon.

The mayors 1:30 AM press conference last night…

… Well, words fail me. I come up with words for a living, and a hobby, and I’ve got nothing.

There is literally not the faintest shred of leadership under that perfectly coiffed hairdo of his.

Asked why he ordered the third precinct evacuated, he prattled something about the building being just a symbol – human lives are the important part. Why no reporter thought to follow up by asking “what about the lives that are being put in direct jeopardy by the complete turnover of the streets to the mob? What about the symbol you’re sending – that the police protection that is one of the few legitimate reasons to have a government, is being pulled out at the height of the crisis? Do you want to talk symbols, let’s talk symbols!”

The Menards, at University at Prior. There was apparently a minimal amount of looting, before police and security cleared the building. Front and loaders piled barricades made of lumberyard materials in front of the doors.

Naturally, nobody asked that.

But a reporter actually DID ask an incisive question, something the mayor clearly isn’t used to ever getting. “What’s the plan?“. The mayor responded, initially, with five seconds of deer in the headlights silence, before asking the reporter “plan for what?” like a junior high kid who’d forgotten this week was midterms, before starting “there’s a lot of pain out there…“ and another couple minutes of gibberish that didn’t even address, much less answer, the question.

Forget about the facts on the ground – if you are a resident of Minneapolis, that press conference should have you howling with anger. The feelings of the mob – not people demonstrating against police brutality, but the roving mass of thieves and provocateurs – are more important than your livelihoods, your lives.

Call it the tyranny of low expectations, but when I saw St. Paul police chief Todd Axtel‘s press conference I found myself almost happy to see a police chief saying “we’re not abandoning our city“. In normal times, I would say, dumbfounded, “what, do you want a cookie? That’s your job!“ We’ve seen today that you can’t take that for granted.

Part of me wants to apologize for former New Orleans Ray Nagin for calling him the worst mayor in the history of America in the wake of hurricane Katrina.

Anyway – curfew in effect.

This is how I curfew. Miscreants, take the hint.

“One Minnesota“ my ass.

If you think this would be an opportune time to slip some virtue signaling about the justification for the rioters into the comments, think again.

  2. My nephew lives in South Minneapolis, a few blocks south of Chicago & lake. He is in touch with mys sister via DM. He tells her that the rioters are ignoring the protesters and that the police & national guard have pulled out.
People who were thinking that Walz was going to be the adult in the room were wrong, apparently.

  3. Been watching Minneapolis go up in flames again. Watched Chi-Lake liquors get emptied in real time; they were pulling pickups into the parking lot and loading them up.

The grieving Negroes and their huwyte, leftist fellow travelers literally burned and looted their way up Lake street to the gates of the fighting (snicker) 5th, and tossed a few molotovs at the coppers that were rumored to be cowering in there.

Banks, stores, restaurants, gas stations, dozens of cars, even the post office were torched, and not one single cop, state trooper or even nat’l guard was ever seen. It was a free for all.

There where protests all over the country, but the cops kept a lid on it everywhere; except Minneapolis.

I’ve joked about MN being a national laughing stock, but this time I’m serious. MN is a national laughing stock.

  4. Perhaps Walz could find a credentialed expert in governance to take over his decision making process.
If Walz doesn’t take control of the situation soon, Trump will be well justified to declare martial law & federalize the situation.
    What a bunch of DFLosers.

  5. Stay safe, Mitch, and everybody else close to the heat up there.

Some rogue elements apparently stirred up trouble in the protest rally here in Des Moines tonight, like they’re doing elsewhere around the country. Businesses and the federal courthouse damaged/looted.

And the preliminary autopsy report on Floyd seems to indicate he didn’t die of asphyxiation, but likely a combination of the force from being restrained by police and underlying health issues. Kudos to golfdoc for pointing out the wisdom in waiting for facts to emerge.

  6. Walz said the activity Friday night and Saturday morning “resembles a military operation with ringleaders moving from place to place.”
I have long complained, here and elsewhere, of the failure of the press to investigate and expose the people who run antifa.
Antifa is clearly organized and directed at the national level, with significant financial and legal resources backing it up. Antifa says it will use violence to its political objectives.
When some loony loner shoots up a mosque, the entire weight of the federal government is used to investigate the shooter and any associates and any possible ties to terrorist organizations. Meanwhile, when antifa organizes a riot, the response is “kids will be kids.” Maybe because some of those kids are the children of influential (democrat) politicians? Think so?

  7. Good luck and wishing for the best in well being for all.

So, the Northern Alliance will be on the air, and word is, Federal Police are going to be called in… what a fiasco, another night of this stuff.

  8. My daughter lives near Powderhorn Park. She called last night.

“If things turn to s**t, you mind if we come down for the weekend?”

    “Not a good idea?”

    “Why?”

“Leave before things turn to s**t.”

  9. Good thinking Greg. I got calls from friends and family asking if I needed a place to stay. I got calls from Army buddies asking if I needed ammo or backup. Thankfully, neither was required.

  10. Right there with ya’, Mitch.

Imagine my surprise when Bloomington announced a curfew. Thankfully, I had five Castle Danger Cream Ales in my fridge.

And, I totally agree with you, MP. Why isn’t anyone tracking these bastards, who is funding them and sue them for the damage that their hired thugs caused? Probably because AntiFa is the left’s Brown Shirts.

  11. I have filled prescriptions at Lloyd’s; one of the pharmacies in the Cities that can do compounding. But not now, and maybe never again.

  12. With the forces at work and the lack of competence from those elected to lead I believe things are not going to end well. I’m afraid it’s going to rain….lead. At that point there will be no happy endings only deep wounds and scars.

  13. Scott;

I saw a video from Wednesday late afternoon, which has now disappeared, showing some dude all dressed in black, walking along a store front breaking windows. The protesters behind him were screaming at him asking him what the hell he was doing? He didn’t answer them and just walked away. Guarantee that was one of George Soros’ paid thugs.

Now, there is something fishy about this whole thing. It has been revealed that Floyd and Chauvin actually worked at the same clubs as security, for at least two years.
https://newsone.com/3950376/did-fired-cop-derek-chauvin-know-george-floyd/ Also, Chauvin’s neighbors claim that they didn’t even know he was a cop.
Finally, the autopsy report allegedly says that Floyd’s death was not due to asphyxia, but to other medical issues, including a bad heart and perhaps drugs. The person that called 9-1-1 said on the call that Floyd was acting weird.
I think that much more will come out.

  14. I saw that video too, boss.

I think that much more will come out.

Should come out, but won’t I fear.

  15. There is video of the Denver Capitol grounds, protesters are gathered, an actual protester, African American is telling a white Antifa-looking dude to not deface the statues. I assume he was spray painting them or something.

  16. Well everyone can relax. I just saw MN public safety director John Harrington give a press conference. His crack team of investigators have figured out who the “out of town agitators” are….

    Huwhyte supremacists.

I thought I recognized some Nazis helping themselves at Chi-Lake liquors.

    Good work John!

  17. Was just down on Lake. The devastation was pretty bad in areas. The amount of people out helping to clean up was amazing. Had to turn off the press conference though – talking about healing and forgiveness is great AFTER you address how you plan to end the lawlessness.

  18. Stay safe Mitch. Sorry you lost all of your firearms in the tragic canoe accident.

What the despicable people on the left refuse to recognize is that these are minority neighborhoods being burned to the ground.

Lovely people, the American left. But they are cheering it on.

  19. I don’t understand why people don’t seek reasonable, peaceful change through orderly protest against a system that confers impunity for murdering them or through voting in a country that systematically tries to disenfranchise them.

Maybe they could take a knee or raise a fist or something…

  20. What did Mitch say about virtue signaling? I see nothing much changed in 5 years on this blog since I left.

Stay safe and make sure you have a round in the chamber.

  21. Grieving Negroes attempted to run their despair off with a big through Atlanta last night.

They were met with Georgia State Troopers prepared for a counter jog and decided it would be more fun to go home and watch the jogging in MPLS.

The contrast between the two cities couldn’t have been more pronounced, as I’m sure the entire country noticed.

The appearance of the gelding Mayor MinneFry, near tears, at the morning wrap up pegged our cringe meter.

  22. Grieving Negroes attempted to run their despair off with a jog through Atlanta last night….

    Effing autocorrect.

  23. If you think the writing has anything to do with the legitimate protesters, Emery, I’d like a bale of whatever you’re smoking right now.

  24. While I do not condone the riot in the slightest (huge number of out of town opportunists/agitator). I do not find the underlying rage unwarranted.

It’s almost like people don’t like the idea of police murdering the people they’re meant to protect, black or white.

  25. this would be like people rioting after the Rodney King video was released. Justice takes time and as badly as some people want it we are not a country of mob rule and even this scummy cop deserves due process. It hasn’t even been a week since this happened and there have already been charges which is unheard of. If this cop was just found not guilty I could kind of understand the rioters, kind of. This makes zero sense and places in Minneapolis and St. Paul will never recover from this. People’s lives have been completely destroyed and I hope that these businesses owners can sue the city and state for negligence. I hope things are peaceful tonight but I doubt it.

  26. You all might be surprised to learn that your household or business insurance does not cover ‘civil action” like a riot.

  27. By now you’ve read the preliminary Medical Examiner’s report. As I believed from the beginning, Floyd did NOT die of asphyxiation. Likely a medical event like a myocardial infarction (that’s heart attack for those of you keeping score at home.) Or some other kind of cardiac event brought about by his resistance to being arrested. Remember: in a restaurant, the diner who has blocked his airway with food can’t talk. Prepare to perform a Heimlich manuever. If he can verbalize his symptoms, he can breathe. Too late for the mob and the MSM. Now we are burning from the transient anarchists who feed on this like catnip. Walz, incompetence unparalleled in history. Frey, a pajama boy.

  28. “hanging first, trial later.”
It is dispiriting, though not entirely unexpected, to see Blacks leading a lynch mob.
Political courage does not lie in joining the mob. It lies in defying it.

  29. golfdoc50;

There is evidence coming out that Floyd was claiming to be having trouble breathing, before he was put on the ground.

And Emery, please tell me why these same riots don’t occur in Chicago after a record number of Memorial weekend shootings? How about the numerous shootings between gangs in North Minneapolis? It’s because to the left, black lives matter ONLY when a white person kills a black person. Blacks killing each other is apparently, acceptable to the miscreants like YOU.

Bosshoss, the modern Left that virtually every social ill is caused by racism. People on the Left only consider Black-on-Black violence important because it is caused by the white people in the NRA flooding the streets of America with guns. So when Whites kill Blacks, it’s due to white racism, and when Blacks kill Blacks, that is also due to white racism.
In the crazy funhouse world they live in, whites actively choose to do evil, but blacks are incapable of making moral choices because the whites have taken that power from them.
This is believed at the highest level of academic sociology. It is what college students are taught.

  32. A similar percentage is applied to all other demographics. Murder and rape are predominantly intra-racial. Most mass shootings? White male perpetrators. Most violent crime is committed within racial groups.

  33. Most mass shootings? White male perpetrators.
Nope. Not when accounting for share of population. You’ve been reading huffpo, again, Emery.

  34. “You’ve been huffing glue again, Emery”

    FTFY MP

  35. Love reading the “that’s what you get for not complying with police” replies here from folks who thought the COVID-19 stay-at-home orders were tyranny.

  36. Saw people cleaning up the mess in MPLS on the news….wypipul, that is.

Not 1 Negro was seen among the cleaning crews, which is understandable. They were busy hooking up their new 52″ flat screens, and enjoying cocktails from their remarkably well stocked Top shelves.

The smoke rising from N. MPLS and Frogtown weren’t more burning buildings…it was coming from hundreds of backyard grills, piled high with steak.

Well, anyway, while y’all were sweeping up the rubble of your destroyed cities, we spent the day on the lake. Hooked a couple real nice bass and a stringer full of crappies.

  37. I heard some discussion on whether “pre-existing” conditions negate a charge of murder (or manslaughter) it sounds like this one lawyer said “no” … but I am sure, there are a number of factors involved in this whole equation.

  38. I bet $10 There is at least 1 shooting at a backyard BBQ today.

    Liquor fueled grieving.

  39. More than likely a few Boogaloo or Proudboy misfires while cleaning their firearms.

  40. Hey! I just read in the Red Star that they and Our State Government is still blowing softly on the embers of the narrative that the Democrat citizens of Democrat cities run by Democrat politicians are the innocent victim of white supremacist rioters rioting on orders from Putin and Donald Trump.

Also read that Governor Wally’s daughter was apparently giving out information about where and when the National Guard will arrive in the metro area on Twitter. Oddly, this was not mentioned on the Red Star.

  41. Keith Ellison and the Antfa handbook?? You really expect we will get a straight answer? Negative.

  42. Yellowbike, Hakim X was able to convince the leftist trash in the Twin cities that he had come to deplore his former mentor, Louis Farakhan.

He failed to mention that he found a home with the white, leftist anarchy community.

The fact that he knows that picture is floating around the internet, and still has the balls to claim teh Natsies burnt down Mpls/St Paul just proves how confident he is in his ability to smoove talk the ignorant white trash majority, and the cooperation he will get from the fake news.

And he’s got good reason for that confidence.

  43. Bwaaahahahahaha!

That means Hakim X publicly aligned himself with terrorists.

I can almost hear the autistic screaming from lefty slobs…

“Naaaaooooooooooooooooo! Not my Antifarooski! Not the terrorino!
