Do you You Remember…

…when the main stream media went nearly bugeyed shrieking about Melania Trump, Sarah Palin, and for that matter Nancy Reagan and their respective wardrobes?

Of course you do.

And I am just amazed that nobody in the mainstream media seems to find this remotely worth comment. It’s a wardrobe day in the life of the Democrat party is flavor of the month, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez:

Now, I for one don’t necessarily begrudge Socialist Barbie a little fun with her, admittedly, patrician wardrobe choices.

I mean, clearly she made a ton of money off of gratuities working as a bartender.

That must’ve been it, right?

  1. It has been a while since I read George Orwell’s Animal House. I remember at the end, the pigs walked around on two legs, but did he tell us what they were wearing?

  2. Everything that is wrong with the elites can be summed up in one simple phrase: all smarts and no wisdom.

  3. People don’t care about this, any more than they care about Ocasio-Cortez having no understanding of her degree field (economics). There are plenty of rich socialists. It’s a statement about social class, it doesn’t tell you anything about income.

  4. Greg, its Animal Farm and I dont believe so, the line was “4 legs bad 2 legs good”. I really need to re-read the book. I read it back as a freshman in high school and outside of 1984 its the book I by far make reference to the most, mainly because it seems like modern SJWs and leftists took the book too literally.

  5. I am reminded of a bit from the Scarlet Pimpernel books where the Pimpernel teases Chauvelin (who he calls Chambertin after Napoleon’s favorite wine) about looking like a bum because the Revolution executed all the good tailors. Miss Ocasio-Cortez needs to remember the fine sartorial style of the Soviet Politburo, Fidel Castro, Mao, and the like in light of her obvious love for couture.

Side note is that if a person decides to wear a suitcoat without a blouse underneath, I’m not going to take her terribly seriously if she complains about people looking at her chest.

  6. One thing that can be said is that Socialist Barbie is easier on the eyes than Hillary Clinton’s muumuu styling.

This comment amazes me. Treacher’s comment that “Modern journalism is all about deciding which facts the public shouldn’t know because they might reflect badly on Democrats” has been around for some time now. It has not been disproven. Moreover, the standing joke for the past couple years on Instapundit is that the MSM are just Democratic [party] operatives with bylines.

In that context, why would you be surprised? It seems to me that the one sort of comment I would expect from the MSM would be something on the order of approval for Ms Socialist Barbie fabulous duds and how great she looks and “see? socialists are not just boring academics”. And there are people, primarily women, who would accept – hell, rave about this (like they raved about Michelle O’s wardrobe – remember the $540 sneakers she wore to a Food Bank? Stunning look). Don’t like the “primarily women” aside? Do a search on Michelle Obama’s wardrobe during the Obama regime and see how many men show up as commenters.

I guarantee you Barbie has not lost a single vote and probably gained a few with this picture.

  8. jdm, you used the word “soc ial ism”. That will trip the modbot every time. (Hmmm, let’s see if the spaces work to bypass them.)
