I saw this in a comment thread on Facebook:

Mitt put the gun in your mouth and pull down hard on the trigger!

I mentioned that this was a particularly noxious little bit of rhetorical effluvia for someone from a party that ostensibly won the  election.

The original commenter responded that he wanted to make sure I got his context straight, you see:

Mitch if you were on my page you’d see that I posted on that as well. I’m sick and tired of crybabies! And Mittiot is a lousy human being so when you blog about my comments don’t generalize… Flat out tell your blog tribe I’m the guy that asked him to blow his brains out! I didn’t threaten him or you… I simply think he’s a maggot and should be treated as such while the secession troop can get down on their knees and I will trickle down on all them!

  3. More civility from the left. Mitt wasn’t my favorite candidate, but, as an individual he has led an outstanding life.

    Republican’s have to learn that the left will demonize our candidate no matter how centrist he is.

  9. I just had the same experience with a Facebook friends comment section. My ‘FB friend’ noted a same-sex-marriage (ssm) discussion on NPR. One of the panelists was a preacher and he was against ssm and claimed that his religious freedom rights would be violated if he were forced by the state to perform ssm ceremonys.
    Now my FB friend is a Lefty, and an ssm and Obama activist. She is also – like our own Miss Ann (Dog Gone) a woman whose husbands wealth affords her the luxury of her political indulgences. She began by noting that she wanted to reach through the radio and strangle this preacher. Her friends – none of whom I know – chimed in with various ways they would torture this fellow, various blunt objects they would like beat him with, sodomize him with, etc.
    As Terry has noted previously, the Lefty blogs (even prominent ones like Kos and HuffPo) are filled with this kind of crazed violent talk. Dennis Miller noted after the election his twitter feed was filled with encouragement for him to kill himself, that he should be killed and people who hoped someone would kill him. Maybe all this abortion purity has made these people truly soulless. If Chris Matthews can give thanks for a deadly hurricane, and get away with it, there’s not a lot of hope for thoughtful people in the future of that party.

  10. Seflores, they seem to believe that they are merely responding in kind to hateful, vile racist remarks like the kind Ryan made when he said that Obama won because he got a good turnout in urban areas.

  12. Lessee….Obama’s friends include truly noxious people like Ayers, Wright, Blagojevich, Pfleger, Khalidi, Rezko, and Daley, and he gets a pass, but Romney plays a central role in private charity and gives away 30% of his income, and he’s a truly noxious human being?

    It reminds me of Walter Williams’ comment about morality yesterday versus today; yesterday, Dad smoked, but was faithful to his wife and honest in business. Today, Dad never married Mom, cheats his employer constantly, but thinks he’s moral because he’s a nonsmoker and eats organic food. Go figure!

  16. Leonard Pitts column. This is Miami Herald, but I read it in USA Today:

    But putative people of faith are often too glib, facile and mean in claiming to have divined the divine. Just as often, their interpretations say less about God than about them, the things they hate and fear, the narrowness of their vision, the niggardliness of their souls.

    The Rev. John Hagee, for example, said it was the will of God to drown New Orleans in Hurricane Katrina as punishment for the city’s willingness to countenance a gay festival. He did not explain why the Good Lord swamped the rest of the city but left the sin-soaked French Quarter, site of the aforesaid festival, relatively unscathed.

    Republican senatorial candidate Richard Mourdock, on the other hand, said it was God’s will if a woman is raped and then finds herself pregnant with the rapist’s child. He did not explain why God would choose to inflict such physical and emotional violence upon a presumably unoffending woman.

    And then, there is the Taliban itself, which said it was God’s will, required by the Koran, for this teenage girl to die. If she survived, said a spokesman after the assault, they would try again to kill her.

    There isn’t one liberal in a thousand who will read that and say “Hey! Wait a minute! Pitts just classed two Americans who have never hurt anyone with vicious psychos who shot a young girl! That was an intrellectually dishonest, dirty, low down thing to do! The one who is being judgmental here is Pitts himself!”
